What we collect from readers
Browsing the public watch does not require an account. We only ask for personal information when you choose to join the weekly list, submit a correction, or send a neighborhood tip.
Weekly launch preferences
We store the email address and optional neighborhood, council district, topic, exact-address, and official-neighborhood preferences you submit, along with a consent record. V2.4 stores these preferences for launch; it does not send instant alerts or an individualized feed. You can unsubscribe through the confirmation link provided with list messages once delivery begins.
Corrections and tips
We store the location or record identifier, your explanation, an optional public-source link, and an optional follow-up email so the submission can be checked against official evidence. Tips enter a private verification queue and are never published automatically. Do not include sensitive personal information.
Your choices
Use the correction form on the main site for an access, correction, or deletion request. Consent and request audit records may be retained when needed to document the request and our response.
